What’s in the Course?

Here’s a sample program we might put together for your team:

  • KICKOFF WORKSHOP: WHAT’S FOLLOWERSHIP?: a 1-hour interactive workshop that introduces the concept of leader-follower dynamics, debunks myths and stereotypes, explores the difference between a fixed rank or job title and the fluid functioning of leadership and followership roles.

  • INTERACTIVE COURSE PLATFORM: Connect contains approximately 2 hours of video organized in short 5-12 minute segments, and supplemented with optional shares, journal prompts, and exercises. The interactive platform gives you the flexibility of self-paced learning with the added benefit of reading all participants’ insights, reactions, and suggestions!

  • TIP SHEETS: Four .pdf downloads to post on the wall or keep in a journal

  • IN-COURSE SUPPORT: Get answers to your questions along the way from Samantha Hurwitz, expert leadership and followership trainer and Chief Encouragement Officer of Flip University, the producer of this and other outstanding online courses.

  • BONUS WORKSHOP: RECEIVING FEEDBACK: a 1-hour interactive workshop that takes the popular course material on this subject a step further with a 6-step coaching method to address common negative belief patterns around the feedback process.

  • CLOSING WORKSHOP: GOALS & INTENTIONS: a 1-hour interactive workshop to reflect on the course material and make a personalized action plan to successfully apply what you’ve learned.

From previous participants

  • "There is a clear connection between dance and our work as a team member. Placing importance on the role of the follower allows team members to feel they have an essential position, even if they are not leading."

  • "I like the connection to dance. That aims the attention towards the fact that part of being a good follower is also being independent and having a voice. I am overall happy with this course because if its simplicity, short sessions and a combination of lectures, questions and exercises."

  • "The tango analogy was very powerful. I was struck by how important the role of "follower" is, in a world that celebrates leaders. A strong follower can give the leader great license and optimism to lead (whereas a not-so-great follower can drag a good leader down)!"

  • "The reminders to integrate stretching before meetings or taking breaks (the example of reading for fun) as a way to clear my mind will be helpful. I often feel guilty for taking time out...but being reminded that it's a productivity boost and not a productivity drain will make this habit more consistent."
